For prom, Jon showed up at her dance studio in a sombrero with a twelve-pack of tacos and a sign that read "Let's Taco Bout Prom." She still has the sign. That summer they started building a life in two cities: New York for dance, Long Island for soccer, weekends on trains between them.
Jon proposed in April of 2023. Central Park. A gazebo her friends had staged with rose petals, champagne. Nicole showed up late, convinced they were walking in on someone else's moment. Jon got down on one knee. He could barely get the question out. She said yes before he finished.
